Signinum, Gest\u00e3o do Patrim\u00f3nio Cultural has started a rehabilitation project, which involves demolishing the interior and retaining the fa\u00e7ade, at the house where painter Maria de Lourdes de Mello e Castro was born, on Rua Alexandre Herculano in Tomar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first stage, teams are working on the interior demolition. They will then proceed with the containment of the metal structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria de Lourdes de Mello e Castro's artistic work is part of the aesthetic current of portuguese naturalism. The artist died in 1996. She was probably the last disciple of the painter Jos\u00e9 Malhoa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The house where the artist was born was given to Tomar City Council to create the House-Museum in honour of her life and work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
