The Signinum<\/a>, a company from Braga dedicated to the cultural heritage management, was responsible for the rehabilitation project of the House-Museum of Sister Lucia, in the village of Aljustrel, in F\u00e1tima. The inauguration of the work took place in the presence of the Rector of the Sanctuary of Fatima, Father Carlos Cabecinhas, the director of the Sanctuary Museum of F\u00e1tima<\/a>, Marco Daniel Duarte, and the bishop of the Leiria-F\u00e1tima diocese, D. Jos\u00e9 Ornelas. It was reopened to the public on 5th of July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The building was rehabilitated at a structural level and, based on some sources of information - such as written descriptions left by Sister Lucia - the house's furniture was restored. In particular, the Signinum teams worked on rehabilitating the roofs, upgrading the electrical installation and Ited, carpentry, stonework treatment, as well as interior plastering and painting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"We have to thank the Museum of the Sanctuary of Fatima for trusting us with a project in such a significant place for the Sanctuary and for the support provided throughout the execution of the work\", rejoices Signinum's director, Lu\u00eds Aguiar. \"All our teams felt proud to be part of this project, for everything that Sister Lucia's house represents\", he explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few metres from the home of her cousins Francisco and Jacinta, this is the house where Lucia lived until 1921. It is also a place of memory from the time of the apparitions. It is the residence of a rural family from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room with a loom, a storage room and the kiln house in an annex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
