Signinum was responsible for the work on Guimar\u00e3es' medieval bridge, which is classified as an Archaeological Heritage Site.\n\"The work is beautiful, it's a very successful project. My congratulations go to everyone who was responsible for its planning and execution.\" These were the words of the president of CCDR NORTE, Ant\u00f3nio Cunha, at the inauguration of the rehabilitation work on the Soeiro Bridge, which took place on 31st of May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About 20 metres long and 3.8 metres wide, the Soeiro Bridge - which connects the villages of Serzedelo and Gondar - dates back to the Middle Ages. It is classified as an Archaeological Heritage Site in the Guimar\u00e3es Municipal Master Plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The structural intervention included consolidating the footings, stabilising the deck and preserving the ancestral marks visible on the stone surface. The project was developed by the municipality's technical team and carried out by Signinum<\/a>, a real challenge, because it was a construction project in the middle of a river, so it was the main driver of what happened throughout the process, forcing the company to manage resources, both in time and materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project respected the past of this heritage site as much as possible, while bringing in some modernity to ensure safety for pedestrians. As the mayor of C\u00e2mara de Guimar\u00e3es<\/a>, Domingos Bragan\u00e7a, recalled at the inauguration, \"everything has been numbered, the stone that was dismantled and has been replaced, according to the historical knowledge we have to date. And then, obviously, there were some protective guards. That's another story, because we also have to add protection and security, because this is for passing through, it's not just for looking at\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, respecting a centuries-old history, this is now a heritage site that is preserved, valued and safe and can finally be enjoyed by the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
