Conservation and restoration of the Santa Ana Chapel completed

The Signinum has completed the conservation and restoration work on the Chapel of Santa Ana, in Ribeirão, in the municipality of Famalicão.

The painting on wood that had been hidden is now visible to all, with the depiction of the Souls in Purgatory taking centre stage. The high altarpiece has been regilded. The tiles on the façade are finally secure and clean, following treatment aimed at stabilising those at risk of falling, which involved their removal and re-fixing, the opening and closing of joints, and their careful cleaning.

The origins of the Chapel of Santa Ana date back to the 16th century. In 1873, the chapel was rebuilt, taking on its present appearance. The main façade is covered with tiles from different periods (the 19th and 20th centuries).
